Clark delivers game-winning three-pointer as Fever edge Mystics 78-76

Caitlin Clark buried a 31-foot jump shot in the final seconds on June 8, 2026, lifting the Indiana Fever to a 78-76 victory over the Washington Mystics at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. The shot, converted off a long inbound pass from Sophie Cunningham, broke a 76-75 deficit and gave Indiana its sixth win of the 2026 WNBA season.

The game-winner capped a turbulent evening for Clark, who had missed two go-ahead free throws in the closing minute before a Mystics foul swung the lead back to Washington. Despite the missed attempts, Clark recovered to deliver a half-court feed to Aliyah Boston that briefly restored the Fever's advantage, and then the decisive long-range make with time expiring. She finished with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting, 4-of-10 from three-point range, five assists and a steal. Earlier in the third quarter, she completed a four-point play after drawing a foul from Cassandre Prosper on a 25-foot jump shot - a foul officials ruled not flagrant.

The performance offered a measure of relief after an uneven stretch for the 24-year-old guard. Clark had scored 20 or more points in each of her first five games of the season, but failed to reach that threshold in four consecutive appearances thereafter. Entering Monday's contest, she had connected on just 14 of 50 field-goal attempts and 6 of 22 three-point attempts across that difficult run. A six-point output against the Portland Fire on May 30 and a 10-point showing on 28.6 percent shooting in a loss to the New York Liberty on June 6 had underscored the inconsistency. Clark, who missed most of the 2025 WNBA season through injury, returned in 2026 to considerable expectations.

With the victory, Indiana improved to 6-5 and moves above the .500 mark for the first time since early in the season. The Fever's next scheduled game is Thursday against the Chicago Sky.
