Santana retains TNA title against Maclin as Alexander faces new challenger
Mike Santana defeated Steve Maclin to retain the TNA world championship on the latest episode of Impact. The match followed Maclin’s return after an earlier bout at Sacrifice was halted by injury and a brief dismissal that was later reversed. Santana secured the victory with his finishing move after both wrestlers traded control throughout the contest.
Before the title match, Director of Operations Daria Rae spoke with Maclin and highlighted his past conflicts with the company. Eric Young, who had earned the number one contender spot, also addressed Maclin and stated that the winner would face him next. Maclin warned Santana of serious consequences prior to their encounter.
After the main event, X Division champion Cedric Alexander addressed the crowd following his recent title win. Fabian Aichner interrupted and declared his intent to challenge for the championship. Aichner later overpowered members of The System in a ringside confrontation, setting up a match against Eddie Edwards for the following week.
Elsewhere on the show, Santino Marella was approved to face Stacks in a singles match after intervening in a ringside altercation involving his daughter Arianna Grace. The approved bout is scheduled for the next episode of Impact.
