Jacobs Faces Five Charges as Dispatch Audio Details Chaos at Packers Star's Home
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday and booked into Brown County Jail on five domestic abuse-related charges following an investigation by the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department. Dispatch audio obtained by Milwaukee television station TMJ 4 captures a police dispatcher relaying to an officer that she could hear "yelling and screaming," objects being thrown, and what she described as an open phone line from inside Jacobs' Wisconsin residence, along with a second call in which a neighbor reported that the occupant had been assaulted.
According to Brown County Jail records and a departmental statement, Jacobs, 28, faces charges of domestic abuse battery, domestic abuse criminal damage to property, domestic abuse disorderly conduct, intimidation of a victim, and strangulation and suffocation - the last of which carries felony status, while the remaining four are classified as misdemeanors. When officers arrived at the residence, Jacobs was not present; he had left in his vehicle before police used license plate readers to track it and issued a call to stop the car if located. The investigation remains active and ongoing, the department stated.
Jacobs' attorneys, David Z. Chesnoff and Clarence Duchac, issued a statement denying all allegations on his behalf. "Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public," the statement read. "We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course." The NFL confirmed it was made aware of the situation and has contacted the Packers. Green Bay declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
Jacobs completed his second season with the Packers in 2025, recording 929 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. In his first season with Green Bay in 2024, he posted 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on 301 carries. Prior to joining the Packers, Jacobs spent five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, where his 2022 campaign - 1,653 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns across 17 games - led the league. His status with the club going forward will be subject to both the legal process and any action taken under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
