Trout Criticizes Mariners Pitch Control After HBP Exit
Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout left Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners after a 94 mph fastball from Casey Legumina struck his wrist in the eighth inning. X-rays on the swollen wrist came back negative, Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said, listing Trout as day-to-day. Trout voiced frustration with the Mariners' tendency to pitch inside.
Trout, an 11-time All-Star and three-time American League MVP, had also been hit by a pitch Friday from Mariners starter Bryan Woo. "We know where they're trying to get me out, fastballs up and in, so it's just frustrating," Trout said. "You know, if you can't control it up there, you shouldn't do it. So it is what it is."
Suzuki, a first-year manager and former catcher, downplayed any rising tensions. "Balls slip," he said. "It's baseball... they're trying to get guys out." The Angels rallied for an 8-7 victory in 11 innings at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, on April 5, 2026.
Trout has spent significant time on the injured list since 2021, playing more than 100 games in a season only twice and reaching 130 games once, last year. Through 10 games this season, he bats .212 with two home runs and three RBI.
