Spiranac Supports Woods After DUI Arrest, Treatment Hiatus
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac voiced encouragement for Tiger Woods after his DUI arrest following a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday. Woods pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, waived arraignment and requested a jury trial. He announced he is stepping away from golf to seek treatment and focus on his health.
Spiranac posted on X that she and others are rooting for Woods as a person, acknowledging his emotional and physical challenges without excusing his behavior. She hoped he receives help in peace amid public scrutiny. Woods' statement emphasized the seriousness of his situation and his commitment to recovery, requesting privacy for himself and his family.
Deputies observed signs of impairment after the crash, including profuse sweating, lethargic movements and bloodshot, dilated eyes.
Woods admitted distraction from his phone and radio. Authorities found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket. This marks Woods' second DUI arrest in a decade, following a 2017 incident involving prescription drugs.
Woods, a 15-time major winner, referenced his 2021 rollover crash and subsequent injuries during field sobriety tests. He recently returned to The Golf League after back and Achilles surgeries. Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley confirmed Woods will miss the Masters next week. Woods had entered the U.S. Senior Open in early July.
