Indiana Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti, hired on December 2, 2024 from James Madison University,[1] opened spring practice this week by enforcing team standards on incoming transfer wide receiver Nick Marsh.

Marsh, a former Michigan State player who recorded 53 receptions for 705 yards and five touchdowns during the 2024 season,[2] arrived wearing gold cleats before practice.

"I didn't love those gold shoes he came out in today," Cignetti said. "He learned what getting your a-- ripped is all about. I don't know if that happened to him very often at Michigan State. That was before practice started."

Cignetti, who compiled a 53-12 record in five-plus seasons at James Madison including two FCS playoff appearances and a transition to FBS,[1] added that the callout served as a wake-up call about expectations.

"That was a wake-up call," Cignetti said. "But he’s really worked hard, done a great job for us."

The coach noted the staff has more work ahead with the current group compared to prior teams as they evaluate players for the upcoming season.

Former TCU quarterback Josh Hoover is among other notable transfer additions to Indiana's roster.
