New Day duo Kingston, Woods leave WWE

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, known as the New Day tag team, departed WWE on Saturday amid a new round of releases. The duo appeared in the alumni section of the WWE website. Fightful Select and BodySlam reported the moves.

Kingston and Woods formed the New Day with Big E, who suffered a serious injury that sidelined him. The pair continued as a tag team and became fan favorites. They captured four tag team titles together and eight overall including time with Big E.

Kingston won the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 during the fan-driven "KofiMania" push. He also secured four Intercontinental Championships and three United States Championships. Woods joined WWE in 2010 following runs in TNA and New Japan Pro-Wrestling and won the 2021 King of the Ring tournament.

The duo claimed their most recent tag team titles at WrestleMania 41, turned heel afterward, and lost the belts in June. Woods sustained an injury that year, while Kingston allied with Grayson Waller. Tonga Loa and JC Mateo also left the company. Loa worked in WWE from 2009 to 2014 and returned in 2024 to join Solo Sikoa’s new faction. Mateo arrived in 2025, supported Sikoa, and held tag team titles with Tama Tonga before dropping them to Damian Priest and R-Truth in March.
