Clark battles illness at halftime, sets WNBA record in Fever's victory

Caitlin Clark vomited at halftime of the Indiana Fever's 83-71 victory over the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on June 4, 2026, then returned to the court to finish with 17 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. The Fever guard disclosed the details to reporters after the game, describing the episode matter-of-factly before saying she felt well enough in the second half to play effectively.

"I haven't puked that much in a really long time," Clark said. "But then I felt fine. I felt light. So, I was running around feeling good in the second half. Obviously, I'm losing my voice a little bit. But I'll be good." The win ended a two-game losing streak for Indiana and moved the Fever to 5-4 on the season, returning them above .500.

Clark's performance also carried milestone weight. During the contest she became the fastest player in WNBA history to record 150 points and 50 assists in a season - a record she first set herself the previous year. The victory came amid elevated scrutiny of the team after video of a heated sideline exchange between Clark and head coach Stephanie White circulated widely during the week. Clark said the episode prompted self-assessment across the roster. "A lot of self-reflection from everybody, like look yourself in the mirror and find ways to get better," she said. "That's certainly what I did."

Indiana's next scheduled game is against the New York Liberty on Saturday, June 7, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET, where Clark will look to maintain form while managing her illness.
